We desire the Christ Church Youth Group to be a community of youth with hearts captured by Jesus, growing in the grit of their holy affections.
Youth at Christ Church (Grades 7-12)
At Christ Church we value the intergenerational make up of Christ’s body. Youth leaders from our congregation invest in the lives of junior high and high school students, mentoring them in the faith, shepherding them in prayer and community, and loving them in the name of Jesus. This is a space set apart for the Lord to engage our youth specifically – heart, soul, and might.
To join youth group please fill out this registration form.
Our youth are a significant part of our body, bringing insight, energy, and passion to our collective devotion. While there are many opportunities at Christ Church for youth to live into their relationship with God, we also have three specific places of engagement we encourage:
1. Youth Group
Youth Group meets every Sunday from 1:30-3:30PM at 112 Medina St. beginning on September 11th, and it’s there we’ll have time growing in love and knowledge of God through community, Scripture, service, worship, prayer, and play. To be added to the list of parents or youth receiving Youth Group updates, please email Sarah Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org
2. Sunday Service
The Word and Sacrament are anchors of the Faith, and our prayer is that youth are formed through participation in our weekly worship. Youth also are invited to participate in helping us enter into worship through several roles, two of which are crucifer and server (acolyte). Youth may be eligible to act as a crucifer upon their 10th birthday, and as a server upon their 13th. Youth have additionally served with slides, hospitality, greeting, and other roles alongside their families and friends. Youth at Christ Church are active worshippers who both meet with and reveal the Lord to us.
3. Catechism Class (Grades 10-12)
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.
Whether or not someone decides to get confirmed here at Christ Church, we offer for all 10th-12th graders a Catechism Class where we will grapple with the Faith afresh and consider what it means for the Faith to be our own. It is an intense year of discipleship, cultivated around the ACNA Catechism, To Be A Christian. In a variety of settings beyond the classroom, students will grow in the evangelical, spiritual, and sacramental facets of their faith. The Catechism Class is a pre-requisite for being confirmed at Christ Church.
