Dinner Groups
February–mid June 2026
Our lives are full and we thirst for connection and community. Sunday Dinners are an easy way for adults who call Christ Church home to enjoy an evening of fellowship over a meal. We welcome parents of young ones! See the FAQ for an idea on how to participate as childcare is not provided.
The goal is to foster connection and build community through three simple potluck dinners over the course of five months (Feb - June). There is no agenda other than connecting and making new friends.
Groups of eight will be formed, and will be as intergenerational as possible so you can get to know others you might not ordinarily intersect with. We will do our best to take geographic location into account with the goal of limiting drive time to 20 minutes in one direction. Each group will meet for three dinners on three Sundays that each group collectively agrees upon. The meals will be a casual sit-down potluck meal where it’s less about the food and more about the community.
Each group will consist of a volunteer Host, a volunteer Communications Lead (CL), and participants. The Host offers their home for 1, 2 or 3 meals. The Communications Lead (CL) sends logistical details and reminders, and helps the group select three dates between February and June that work for everyone.
It’s important to commit to all three dinners when you sign up. It usually takes multiple interactions to build community.
To sign up, please complete this questionnaire.
Sign-ups will close on Wednesday, January 21st.
FAQs:
I have kids and getting babysitters is a challenge especially on a school night.
We don’t have a perfect solution to this problem but here is an idea: Both of you sign up and get a babysitter for the first dinner so can be part of the introductions and then one of you attend meal 2 and the other meal 3.
How are dietary restrictions handled?
Dietary restrictions will be handled within each group of 8. The Communications Lead will send out a Doodle Poll that includes dietary restrictions questions and then provide this information to the group so that everyone can attempt to accommodate the restrictions.
I would like to participate but I doubt that I can attend three dinners.
The goal of Sunday Dinners is to foster connection and build community through three simple potluck dinners over the course of five months. We feel that three dinners enable the group to go deeper in their conversations and form friendships. We are asking everyone who joins to commit to making themselves available to attend all three meals. Obviously, things may come up and that is fine.
Is it a problem if I am not able to host?
Absolutely no problem at all. You will be placed in a group with others who have offered to host on the sign-up questionnaire.
