Children’s Ministry Update

Dear Christ Church,

On any given Sunday, you may have noticed the sounds of rustling and bustling, coos and cries of children in the sanctuary. We’re delighted to be a church with so many little ones. From infants to elementary, it’s our desire to care for the children of our parish and nurture them in their curiosity to know, love and follow Christ by discovering Him and his love for them through worship, teaching and play.

There’s a saying “it takes a village to raise a child”, and that’s certainly true of our children’s ministry. We are so blessed to have a wonderful group of caregivers and volunteers who serve our children and families. We’re especially thankful for Olivia Bruner and the role she has played in the ministry, and are pleased to announce her new role as our Children’s Ministry Team Lead.

From the time our beloved former Director of Children’s Ministries, Terrice, moved on to a new role in the Houston area,  our children’s ministry has been carried by a team of caring and competent coordinators. While the team approach was initially formed to fill an interim need until a new director could be hired, we’ve seen that this approach has been working well, and there’s energy and excitement to keep going. So we have decided to continue this team approach, now with Olivia serving as the team leader in a part-time staff role.

As Children’s Ministry Team Leader, Olivia gives oversight, supervision and support to the team that ministers to children from infant to 5th grade. She envisions and supports the ways the church can nurture and teach children, championing the youngest in our community. We are continually blessed by her unique perspective, creativity, and love of children.

Learn more about Olivia below or visit the Children’s Ministries page on our website here.  If you’re interested in serving in the children’s ministry, please contact Olivia (insert email link)!

Speaking of our children, it’s back to school time! This Sunday we invite students of all ages to bring their backpack to church for a backpack blessing, and we will also bless and commission all educators (home/school/university/online/etc.).

Peace, Cliff+

PS This Sunday we also return to the common cup for Holy Eucharist. You can learn more about it here.
