Dear Christ Church,
A blessed Eastertide to you all! To begin this joyful season, we will celebrate Confirmations at both services this Sunday with our Bishop Todd Hunter. And I hope you’ll join us for a Backyard Party and special event to unveil a restored mosaic originally created by Primera Iglesia Bautista de Austin (PIBA) that was gifted to Christ Church with the purchase of the property.
The large mosaic, designed by Rev. Carlos Paredes in 1959, hung above the exterior doors of the church as a visual fixture in the neighborhood for generations. Christ Church worked with a local artist to oversee the restoration, incorporating original tiles as well as new tiles designed by Christ Church parishioners. We’ll be grilling hot dogs, and there will be other snacks and a petting zoo… it will be a fun event for the whole family! Bring your camping chairs, and join us this Sunday, April 16th at 5pm to celebrate this piece of East Cesar Chavez neighborhood heritage.
