Dear Christ Church,
“Jesus gave everything for us, demonstrating God’s extravagant grace. We respond with sacrificial generosity by giving of our gifts, abilities, time, and money to God, His people, and His work. We open our arms, our hearts, and our homes with generous love.” This is how we articulate one of our core values: generosity.
Over the next few weeks we invite you, the people of Christ Church, to be in prayer and discernment about your financial generosity for the next 12 months. On Sunday, May 21, we will offer up our pledges to God as an act of worship; there’s a beautiful offertory line in the BCP that says, “all things come of thee, O Lord, and of thine own have we given thee.”
New Senior Warden. I am pleased to let you know that Leslie Cameron is serving as our new Senior Warden. Leslie and her husband Jim have been attending and serving in many capacities at Christ Church for over a decade, and even now continue in their roles as small group leaders and volunteer to disciple our children in KidsQuest. Thank you, Leslie, for all the ways you love, serve, and lead in our parish!
Suffragan Bishop. Lastly, in case you missed it, Fr. Brian Wallace is our diocesan candidate to serve as Suffragan (Assisting) Bishop. Brian worships and serves at Christ Church, and in recent years has been the founding director of the Fuller Center for Spiritual Formation and Fuller Formation Groups. Tomorrow morning the clergy and lay delegates of our diocese will vote on him. If approved, the House of Bishops will then vote in June. Would you join us in prayer for tomorrow’s diocesan meeting, and for Brian and Lisa Wallace?
Peace,
Cliff+
