This week’s guest post is by Wes Crawford, Worship Pastor.
Dear Christ Church,
This Sunday (March 27th) evening and next Sunday (April 3rd) evening we will gather for a special service of prayer and guided engagement with the Lord through stillness, reflection, and song.
First, we will pray Evensong, which is a sung Evening Prayer service from the Book of Common Prayer. Among other musical elements, we’ll sing this setting of the Prayer of Confession, this setting of The Lord’s Prayer (which we sang this past Sunday for the first time), the General Thanksgiving (which we sang every Sunday for the first stretch of the pandemic when we were doing Morning Prayer instead of Eucharist services), and a mix of metrical psalms and psalm chant. After Evensong, space will be made for engagement with several guided prayer stations designed to lead us toward prayer for healing, repentance, and renewal.
