Dear Christ Church,
It’s time to update you on some of the sacred work of the church. I’m referring, specifically, to our Vestry, Treasurer, fiscal year, and annual parish meeting. Yes, this is as much a holy offering of labor unto the Lord as every other aspect of the work of the church. This too is an offering made prayerfully in faith, hope, and love. This too is vital to our gospel mission.
First of all, join me in welcoming Adam Hull as our new Treasurer. He will serve as an advisor to and bridge between the staff and Vestry regarding the finances of the church, assist in financial budgeting and reporting, and help interface with financial institutions. On a related note, in 2021 Christ Church transitioned from our fiscal year being the same as the calendar year to a fiscal year that begins August 1 and ends July 31.
In light of the new fiscal year, we will provide an annual financial report to the congregation in September (looking back at the previous year and presenting our budget for the coming year). Our Annual Parish Meeting (February 20th) will now be more focused on a ministry report, looking back with gratitude and forward with vision.
Vestry Update. We normally have a turnover of two people on the Vestry each year. This year, because of several staff transitions and the need for some operational continuity, only one Vestry member (Emily Padula) will roll off. Kevin Lloyd graciously accepted the invitation to extend his service one additional year. Kim Polk, who has served previously on our Vestry, has accepted the Vestry’s invitation to return for a one-year term. The Vestry will also invite one new member to the Vestry in February. We’ll keep you posted!
I want to take a moment here to say a word of special thanks to Emily Padula for her past three years of Vestry service. She has gone above and beyond, bringing her executive leadership background to consult our operations staff, improving our HR systems, and recently served on the hiring team for our new Executive Director of Operations (Adam Fetherstonhaugh, read more here). Please join me in thanking Emily!
Peace, Cliff+
