Serving at Christ Church
One of the best ways to engage in service at Christ Church is to join one of our First-Serve teams. Those who join these teams will be asked to serve one or two Sundays per month over the course of a three-month schedule. At the end of the serving schedule, team members have an opportunity to change teams.
First Serve Teams
Altar Guild members are responsible for maintaining the Altar and all vessels and appointments used for the weekly service. This includes preparing the altar before and taking down the altar after each Sunday service and for special services. Serving on this team does not conflict with attending the worship service. Members of this team serve once or twice per month for about 90 minutes.
The AV team helps us join in weekly worship together at Christ Church by operating the slide show equipment during the services. Team members serve with our Sound Technician one or two times per month in one of two time slots: 8:45–10:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m. After the 11 a.m. service, those serving help take down the sound and video equipment.
Teachers and Youth Helpers in Kids Quest and Faith Explorers lead children grades K-6 in a Bible lesson, guided discussion, and fun activities. Each service period is a block of four to five weeks, 45 minutes each week, and is a special opportunity to forge relationships and invest in the next generation. Greeters make visitors and regular attendees of Christ Church feel at home each Sunday by welcoming guests, answering questions, handing out bulletins and, well…greeting. Team members are asked to serve at one service once or twice per month. Greeters are able to join in the worship time.

The Hospitality Team prepares coffee and bagels before the 9 a.m. service and following the 11 a.m. service each Sunday. By facilitating this special fellowship time each week, the Hospitality Team makes a way for people to connect with one another and for guests to feel welcome. Team members serve two times per month during the 9 or 11 a.m. service for about one hour.
Ushers help make each Sunday worship service comfortable and accessible to guests and regular attendees of Christ Church by assisting the flow of people entering the worship space, collecting the offering, and inviting people to the Communion table. Ushers serve at two services per month and are able to participate in worship while they serve on the team.
