Serving at Christ Church

One of the best ways to engage in service at Christ Church is to join one of our First-Serve teams. Those who join these teams will be asked to serve one or two Sundays per month over the course of a three-month schedule. At the end of the serving schedule, team members have an opportunity to change teams.

First Serve Teams

Altar Guild

Lori Hobbs
Altar Guild members are responsible for maintaining the Altar and all vessels and appointments used for the weekly service. This includes preparing the altar before and taking down the altar after each Sunday service and for special services. Serving on this team does not conflict with attending the worship service. Members of this team serve once or twice per month for about 90 minutes.

Audio-Visual Team

Bryson Owen
The AV team helps us join in weekly worship together at Christ Church by operating the slide show equipment during the services. Team members serve with our Sound Technician one or two times per month in one of two time slots: 8:45–10:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m. After the 11 a.m. service, those serving help take down the sound and video equipment.

Children’s Ministry

Terrice Tinsley
Our discipleship ministry for elementary children is called “Kids’ Quest” and takes place during the sermon each Sunday. The Gospel Project is a rich curriculum and all the lessons and supplies are prepped for our volunteers! Please email Terrice to learn more about joining our team!

Hospitality Team

Karen Berlanga
The Hospitality Team prepares coffee each Sunday. By facilitating this special fellowship time each week, the Hospitality Team makes a way for people to connect with one another and for guests to feel welcome. Team members serve two times per month during the 9 or 11 a.m. service for about one hour.

Ushers

Bryson Owen
Ushers help make each Sunday worship service comfortable and accessible to guests and regular attendees of Christ Church by assisting the flow of people entering the worship space, collecting the offering, and inviting people to the Communion table. Ushers serve at two services per month and are able to participate in worship while they serve on the team.

Each First-Serve team gives its members the opportunity to attend Sunday service. Serving schedules run for about three months. Team members have an opportunity to change teams between schedules.

Most First-Serve team members serve one or two Sundays per month and attending a church service while you serve is encouraged. Substitutes may be requested in the event that personal and family schedules change unexpectedly.
