The Vestry serves as the governing board of Christ Church charged with leading the church in six arenas 1) they are dedicated to prayer and fasting on behalf of the church and her mission; 2) they protect the core values of the church; 3) they exercise gifts of wisdom, discernment and counsel, working very closely with the Rector regarding the church and her mission; 4) they have full and final authority for all matters related to the facility and finance of the church; 5) they assist the Rector in guarding the unity of the church, “putting out fires”, giving encouragement protection to the Rector and staff; 6) they lead by example in the church through Christian maturity, stewardship and servanthood.

Cliff Warner

Cliff has been Rector of Christ Church since moving to Austin in 2006 with his wife, Christine, and four children. Before coming to Austin, he was Pastor of Community and Mission and founder of Ciudad Nueva Community Outreach, an urban mission in downtown El Paso, TX. Before serving on the U.S.-Mexico border, Cliff completed theological studies at Regent College, served migrant farmers and prison inmates, and worked in a church small group ministry and on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at the University of Texas. He is excited to be back in the city of Austin and near UT where he discovered his call to ministry, fell in love with his wife, and grew into abiding love with Jesus. Cliff enjoys the Austin outdoors, kayaking, running, hiking, reading, cooking, and the adventure of life with Christine, Brendan, Cormac, Skye and Bronwyn.

Matt Dampier

Associate Rector

Matt has been the associate rector at Christ Church since March 2018. Prior to this role, he was serving as a Campus Pastor at Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) at the University of Kentucky. Though there were responsibilities, such as preaching, serving on the board, overseeing a large staff of recent graduates, and creating the World’s Largest Water Balloon Fight—the majority of his time was late night Little Debbies and talking with college students about Jesus. Matt had originally prepared to enter medical school while at UK but instead chose to serve in the campus ministry where he became a believer. While working at CSF, he entered divinity school at Asbury Theological Seminary and graduated with his Master of Divinity in 2011. He married Lexie, his high school sweetheart, and they have two wonderful kids, Lucy and Charlie. Nowadays, adventure for him looks like jogging, gardening, a little reading and woefully playing basketball. He and his family plan to one day own an RV and trek from Alaska to Argentina.

Bryson Owen

Director of Operations

Prior to joining the Christ Church staff in August 2016, Bryson directed operations at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Musuem overseeing property management, finance and business management. Raised in Brady, Texas, Bryson pursued studies in Studio Art specializing in sculpture at Texas State University, receiving his BFA in 2008. Following this he worked for Campus Crusade for Christ in east Austin bringing artists, college students, and long-time east Austin residents into a community to wrestle with faith, art and being neighbors in a diverse area. Bryson then spent several years in Houston as a real estate manager overseeing multiple high-rise office properties including Houston Center and Greenway Plaza. Bryson, his wife Marisa and two children, Violet and Parker, love hiking the Greenbelt, eating great food, playing Uno and building with Legos.

Wes Crawford

Worship Pastor

Wes joined the Christ Church staff in March of 2017, and as Worship Pastor he leads our team of musicians. He grew up in the DFW area and studied music at the University of North Texas in Denton. While there, Wes met his wife Melissa and worked in campus ministry after graduation. The Crawfords served as missionaries in Monterrey, Mexico from 2004 until 2008, when they moved to Kansas City, Missouri to be part of a church plant in the heart of the city. Wes enjoys playing and listening to music, flipping through used record bins at Waterloo Records, and cooking. He and Melissa have four girls: Anna, Maggie, Claire, and Elaine.

Jodi Wicker

After receiving her Masters Degree in Arts, Theology and Spiritual Formation from Regent College, she returned to Austin to serve in the Small Group Ministry and Arts Ministry at a local church for 6 years. Her work history includes higher education at UT, constituent correspondence for a state representative and the Speaker of the House, and Hospice Care. A native Austinite, Jodi is grateful to be rooted in the diverse, culturally vibrant city of Austin with her husband Patrick and daughter Sophia, where good theatre, dance, film and natural beauty abounds. Meghan Scully

Assistant to the Rector

Meghan has been a member of Christ Church since 2009 where she’s had the honor of living life in the authentic community of our parish, serving on the Mission Team and Vestry. She became part of the staff team as Assistant to the Rector in the summer of 2015. Meghan graduated from Wheaton College in 2001 with a BA in Christian Education and Ministry with an emphasis on intercultural studies. The Lord captivated her heart as a child and grew in her a love for Himself and a desire to make Him known among the nations. In 2001 she moved to Austin, a city she is proud to have established roots and call home. Meghan and her husband, Matt, were married in December 2002 and have two children, Brennan and Kensington, whom she part-time homeschools. She loves snuggling with and reading to her children; cooking, when it doesn’t feel like a chore; hiking, particularly in the mountains of Colorado; and family conversations and laughter around the dinner table. One happy place of hers is being curled up with a good book, a cup of tea, and her dog and husband by her side after the children are in bed.

Carolyn Roman

Carolyn joined Christ Church in April 2018. Born in Venezuela to Texas Longhorn parents, Carolyn’s family returned to Texas (Houston) when she was two years old, where she continues to speak Spanish like a two year old. Carolyn raised four children, Coleman, David, Bailey and Lindsay, Austin. Along the way she also enjoyed using her BS in Food Science from Texas A&M (WHOOP!) in her work at NASA, Baskin Robbins, and Cy-Fair ISD. A dachshund enthusiast, Carolyn is also mom to the incredibly adorable Mia (longhair black & English cream) and the impish Cashew (longhair English cream). Carolyn is excited be a part of the Christ Church team where her heart for Spanish, Central/South America, and her experience through Kids Alive in the Dominican Republic intersect with the church’s partnerships in Guatemala. Carolyn enjoys anything sparkly, funny pet videos, reading classic books, and watching anything about history, especially if it includes beautiful costumes.
