Matthew 6 & 7
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Beginning to Pray | Anthony Bloom Prayer, The Cry of the Kingdom | Richard Foster
Holy Spirit, breath of God and fire of love, I cannot pray without your aid: Kindle in me the fire of your love, and illumine me with your light; that with a steadfast will and holy thoughts I may approach the Father in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ my Lord, who reigns with you and the Father in eternal union. Amen
Respond: Consider inviting the Holy Spirit into your work more regularly throughout the day. These can be very simple prayers: simply acknowledging his presence, or asking for his guidance; one to five words of prayer frequently throughout the day.
Consider creating a simple nudge to remind you to recenter your attention on God throughout the day (a Post It note, calendar reminders, phone notifications, etc...)
Q149 What is prayer? Prayer is turning my heart toward God, to converse with him in worship. (Psalm 122, 123)
Q153 Why should you pray? I should pray, first, because God calls me so to do; second, because I desire to know God and be known by him; third, because I need the grace and consolation of the Holy Spirit; and fourth, because God responds to the prayers of his people. (Luke 11:13)
