Bagpipes + Chili

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

Dear Christ Church,

The next three weeks hold some treasures of parish life and opportunities to celebrate the coming of our King and his kingdom!

Ceili and Men’s Chili Cook-off. This Sunday the much anticipated annual party is back, after a two-year hiatus, and we couldn’t be more excited! Join us after the second service this Sunday as we transform the sanctuary into a banqueting hall, enjoy Texas’ quintessential wintry fare (chilis entered for our competition), delight in live bagpipes and Irish music, and dance some jigs. This is the perfect Sunday (also Advent II) to bring a friend who doesn’t know Christ, or who is looking for a church home.

Poinsettias Dedication. If you have been to one of our Christmas services, you’ll remember the beauty of the Lord’s Table situated in a sea of red poinsettias. We invite you to dedicate a poinsettia to someone using this form. Your dedication words (typically one sentence) will be printed on a bulletin insert for our Christmas Eve service. I have many memories of years past reading dozens of parishioner’s words of gratitude, remembrance, and celebration. That bulletin is a snapshot of our common life; we get a window into the births, deaths, special occasions, friendships, and marriages (just to name a few) that we carry on our hearts at this time of year.

As we near the end of the year, I also want to invite you to join us with financial partnership in our mission. Whether you are catching up on your planned giving at the end of the year, just beginning to step into regular giving at Christ Church, or demonstrating gospel generosity with a special year-end gift, the mission of Christ Church depends on the contributions of the whole people of God.

Lastly, mark your calendar now for Christmas Eve, and consider whom you might invite to worship with us. We will have two services, 5pm and 7pm.

Peace on Earth,
