Dear Christ Church,
Did you know that Eastertide is longer than Lent? Life conquered death, joy was victorious over sorrow, and Jesus defeated the world, the flesh, and the devil. Eastertide invites us into a season of joy in community after a penitential season of Lent and scattered church due to the pandemic. How might we share a sense of joy, feasting, and celebration in the spiritual formation of our parish? Reinvigorating and expressing our core value of Community is at the heart of this question.
- Christ Church values the spiritual practice of feasting as well as fasting
- We have access to eternal joy because of the good news of Christ’s death and resurrection. We are invited into true freedom as children of God—this should cause us to celebrate!
- Christ Church values community and whole life discipleship; we invite you into communal celebration.
I want to urge us all, the people of Christ Church, to embrace a season of feasting and rest and parties and play within our households, among our friends, and with our small groups. Throughout the rest of Eastertide, you’ll notice invitations to practice joy—to practice resurrection!—together. Keep an eye on this e-news, Instagram, and during Sunday worship for more information on little and big ways to be a Community of the Feast of the Resurrection. One big one is coming soon (see below), a Backyard Party for the whole church!
