Dear Christ Church,
I’ve got some exciting news to share, but first . . . have you registered to worship with us at one of our daily Eucharist services next week? You can do that here. We are working to regather as much as possible, holding so many values in tension.
Ok, now for the exciting news:
In 2016 we were privileged to host our denomination’s first continental gathering of Anglicans working among vulnerable, marginalized, and under-resourced communities. It was called the Matthew 25 Gathering, based on Jesus’ call to love “the least of these.” Over 60 of you volunteered to make it happen on our property and a major new effort was launched for the Anglican Church in North America. Subsequent gatherings have been held on the east coast and in the western U.S.
Archbishop Foley Beach describes the Matthew 25 Initiative as the “heart and soul” of the ACNA, just as it was at the heart of Jesus’ ministry.
For the first time, we all get to go to the main event! This year the theme is Anglicans: Normalizing Justice and Mercy, and in light of 2020’s unprecedented circumstances, it’s going virtual, which means everyone can attend! This exciting one-day, 3.5 hour Gathering is happening November 13th, from 10am – 1:30pm (CT) and registration is open. It will be a unique opportunity for all Anglicans (clergy, vestry, and laity) to deepen in Scripture, Anglican Church history, understanding who are the poor in our midst, death and dying and life amid Covid, and finally an invitation for how each person within the ACNA might move a bit deeper into companioning the vulnerable in their life.
For 3.5 hours, participants will hear engaging theology, robust historic practices of Anglicans in the work of justice and mercy, how to think about migration and aging, and on-the-ground stories from frontline practitioners who are caring for the vulnerable and marginalized. There will also be a dedicated time for soul care on November 14.
I would love for you to attend this with me and many other Christ Churchers.

I’ve had a front row seat to the planning of this event, with Christine as Director and Fr. Matt on the Steering Committee. They and their team have been so faithful and prayerful to see this beautiful and rich ministry woven throughout the fabric of the ACNA, for the sake of “the least of these.”
