Christ Church Plans for Worship Tomorrow March 15

Rev. Cliff Warner

Dear Christ Church,

Please make note of our plans for worship tomorrow. We will NOT be gathering for worship at 112 Medina St.

Instead, the priests and deacons of Christ Church will lead a short Morning Prayer service with Communion (wafers only) at 11am in six different open-air spaces. This is an opportunity to engage in fellowship, worship, and witness that is smaller, more local, and more public. If you have not already done so, please read my emails from March 12 and March 13 for a broader discussion of the Coronavirus. This email focuses on logistics for how we will worship God across the city of Austin tomorrow.

When: 11am Sunday, March 15, 2020

Where: In a park near you. We have divided the city into 6 areas. See below.

What: Morning Prayer with Communion (wafers only).
o Approximately 30 min.
o Bring a friend!
o If desired, bring a lawn chair, umbrella, water, or any other items you might want.
o We have chosen sites that have a pavilion overhead, with the exception of Bull Creek, where the planned location is under a large tree canopy. Participants at Bull Creek might especially want to bring an umbrella, just in case.
o Feel free to observe social distancing as we gather, leaving 6ft. between yourself and others.
o Be prepared to warmly invite/welcome strangers, if the opportunity arises.

Who: A Christ Church priest or deacon will lead. All are welcome.

If you are immunocompromised or otherwise feel uncomfortable gathering, an audio version of the service will be posted by 11:00am tomorrow, with text for you to listen and pray with. Look for a separate email tomorrow morning with that link.

A final note, normal services at 112 Medina St. are also canceled for March 22. We have not decided whether we will gather again in public spaces or use technology to connect with each other and God that morning. Either way, we believe it is vital for us all to stay connected during these unusual weeks. As there will be no offering the next two Sundays, please consider making your gift or setting up a recurring contribution digitally.
