A Taste of Things to Come

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes, Frontpage News

Dear Christ Church,

It’s “a taste of things to come;” that’s one way of understanding Holy Communion. Everyone is invited, from all walks of life. We all get to share in this meal that is a foretaste of the Great Banquet we will someday enjoy in the face-to-face presence of Jesus Christ, the host.

What if your non-Christian friends could just get a sample of that goodness, a glimpse of the table spread for them, a whiff of the aroma of Christ? They can, at Come to the Table! This is a tremendous opportunity to take the bold step of inviting a seeker or skeptic, a non-believing friend or family member, to join a conversation about the intersections of food and faith. From justice and beauty, to hospitality and community, the world of food and the life of faith are intertwined.

Whom can you invite to enjoy a lovely meal, a brief talk, and conversation at Foodheads Café, October 3rd at 6:30pm? Let’s be bold witnesses to the good news we have in Christ. Let’s invite our friends, and be prayerful that they might experience “a taste of things to come.” Please email info@christchurchofaustin.org to let us know you and your guest(s) are coming.

Two Special Features on Sunday! [1] This Sunday, at both services, my wife Christine will give a brief update on how she is doing post-accident (if you don’t know the story, you can catch up here). We are so thankful for your continued prayers for healing and recovery! [2] This Sunday we also celebrate our one-year building anniversary! One year ago, this Sunday, Bishop Todd Hunter led us in a Consecration Service of 112 Medina St. as a newly renovated sacred space. We will have some special elements of worship to express our gratitude, and hopes for our building to facilitate God’s mission in the city.

Peace, Cliff+
