Dear Christ Church,
Love is expensive. In one of St. Paul’s great summary statements of the Christian life, he says, “present your bodies as a living sacrifice.” Does that language remind you of a priest at the altar in the Temple? That’s exactly what Paul is referring to; you are a priest, offering up your very selves, your body and time and abilities—it’s all a gift to God, a gift that often costs you something precious. And so many of you offer that gift every week at Christ Church.
Christ Church volunteers, thank you for the costly ways that you love God and each other by serving on various teams, from preparing the Table and serving the Meal to welcoming the newcomer or investing in others’ spiritual formation through Kids’ Quest, Youth Group, or Small Groups . . . and many other places of service at Christ Church!
Thank you for showing up when you’re delighted to offer your gift of time and abilities.
Thank you for showing up on the days when you would rather be doing something else.
Thank you for being faithful, cheerful, and wholehearted, presenting your bodies as a living sacrifice.
Thank you for loving God and each other when that love feels expensive.
