Dear Christ Church,
In this week when we aim our hearts at the bullseye of gratitude, I thank God that I get to be pastor to a community like you, a parish full of wholehearted worshippers, devoted disciples, and risk-taking missionaries in your own “backyard.” You inspire and encourage me as the family of God.
I am thankful for this amazing year of God’s provision for Christ Church as we completed the renovation and moved into our Downtown Eastside home.
I am thankful for the several new and wonderful staff God has brought to our team this past year, and for a godly servant-hearted Vestry.
But most of all and more personally, in this epic year 2018, I am thankful that my wife, Christine, is alive. Not only that, I am thankful that she is so high functioning, mobile, verbal, intellectually strong, with the same beautiful spirit that caused me to fall in love with her many years ago (March 26, 2019 will be our 25th anniversary). Given the extent of the accident and injury, I take none of those for granted. And I thank God for your practical, loving, and prayerful support through it all, Christ Church. You’ve been amazing and still are, as the implications ripple through our life and family, and you keep loving us and praying for us.
