Dear Christ Church,
The moment Jesus called Philip to follow Him, he bolted in search of his friend Nathanael to tell him about Jesus: “As soon as Philip became a disciple he became a missionary; that is the only true discipleship,” writes the former Archbishop of Canterbury, William Temple. Did you get that? It’s clear here, and throughout the New Testament, that to be a disciple is to be a missionary.
This Sunday we will have a “Local Missions Fair” to expose you to several opportunities to join the work God is doing in our great city. You are a missionary. Whether you serve alone, as a small group, or as a family check out these ways that Christ Church is working among the vulnerable, marginalized, and under-resourced communities of our city, and consider how you can join in prayer and action.
In case you missed it, you can catch last Sunday’s sermon here, which looked at our call to bear witness to the gospel. Dear friends, we must not lose sight of this call. Let’s keep reaching out to, and praying for, our friends who don’t know the mercies of our Father, that they might be found and restored by Him.
Mark your calendar for a fantastic Lenten opportunity to grow in prayer. See below for details on the latest Lumen spiritual formation seminar: Contemplative Vision: Image as an Aid to Prayer.
