Dear Christ Church Family,
Jodi Wicker is a shepherd whom I would describe with the same terms used of the best known shepherd of the Old Testament: “And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.” For almost ten years on staff at Christ Church, Jodi has served with this godly combo of faithful heart and hands, with integrity and skill, helping our small group ministry to flourish. I am grateful to tell you that we are expanding her hours and role to include pastoral care, overseeing some other lay-led ministries focused on helping people to heal and grow through difficult times. She will continue her incredibly gifted work with our small group ministry and leaders. Thank you, Jodi!
The Vestry and I recently wrote a letter to the parish. In case you missed it, you can find it here.
And don’t forget about our Quiet Day tomorrow morning, a great chance to enter some Advent silence and solitude, in the company of others. Yes, solitude in the company others sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s a sweet and powerful way to draw near to Jesus. Details below.
Check this out for an update on what’s going on in our denomination, and to read a beautiful piece by Christine Warner.
Finally, one of my favorite simply seasonal poems:
This is the irrational season
When love blooms bright and wild.
Had Mary been filled with reason
There’d have been no room for the child.
Peace on Earth,
