Dear Christ Church,
Good news . . . we have a new Associate Rector! I am very pleased to announce that Matt Dampier will be joining the staff of Christ Church as Associate Rector beginning March 1, 2018. He and his wife Lexie, married for almost thirteen years, have two kids, Lucy (6) and Charlie (3). They are as excited to join us, as we are to have them. Thank you, everyone who has been praying for discernment and provision for this season at Christ Church!
Matt and Lexie were high school sweethearts from the Nashville area, who then attended the University of Kentucky where they each met Jesus and were discipled, before Matt joined the staff of Campus Student Fellowship (CSF) at UK. Matt has been with CSF through their growth from about 50 students to over 500, serving in just about every role, most recently as the acting Director. In recent years, Matt completed his Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary and has been on the “Canterbury Trail,” attending their local Anglican parish in Lexington, Kentucky. Matt recently started the ordination process, will be ordained a deacon in November, and then become a priest in late spring. Lexie works as a nurse practitioner and, with her Doctor of Nursing degree/training, also teaches on the faculty of UK’s Nursing School.
Now that’s a bit about their life and training, but I also want to tell you that the call of Christ is upon this couple, the call to vocational ministry, a deep love for the bride of Christ, and for the Scriptures, for making disciples and reaching the lost. I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know Matt and seeing his heart for the gospel. While he is deep-thinking and hard-working, I’ve also enjoyed discovering that Matt is very fun-loving; he has a gift of levity. He’ll fit right into our party-loving Christ Church culture! (By the way, don’t forget to bring a friend and a side dish this Sunday for our Fall Kickoff Party).
Be sure to check out this letter from Matt to Christ Church. You’ll get to meet Matt and Lexie on Sunday September 17th, when they come for a weekend visit and meet the parish. And their whole family will be with us for our Parish Retreat in October (have you registered?). Excited things are taking shape; it’s such a joy to be on this ride with you!
In joyful service,
