Dear Christ Church,
Most of you have heard the happy news that Sarah and Drew Smith, two Pastoral Assistants on staff, are expecting their third child late November. In order to welcome their wee one into the world Sarah will be stepping down from her staff position on November 1. Until then Sarah will keep leading our Youth Ministry Team and our pastoral care response, and serving in the other unseen ways that she loves you and our staff team so beautifully.
We are delighted for the Smiths as they celebrate new life and pursue God’s purposes in each season and stage of their family. I am also thankful that this is not goodbye to Sarah, as she and Drew continue to love and serve in our parish community as small group leaders, and as Drew remains on staff. Sarah will move forward with her ordination process as well, anticipating a return to pastoral ministry down the road. Though she will still be in the Christ Church community, Sarah will no longer be in the office hallway and in staff meetings; I know I speak for all the staff when I say that her thoughtful, witty, and kind presence will be greatly missed.
As the phrase Deep Roots New Season conveys, this is a season at Christ Church of both continuity with the past, and the springing forth of new growth. We had the joy la
st week of welcoming Heather Summers as our new Director of Children’s Ministry, and many of you have persisted in prayer for God’s provision of an Associate Rector. I’ll have a progress report for you on that front next week, and on the Medina St. renovations soon as well. God is on the move.
