Servant Church

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes, Frontpage News

Dear Christ Church,

Can you guess how many people rotate to serve in some way on Sunday mornings? You are a servant church. I know this because I know you, but I just asked Drew Smith who oversees an application we use to manage and schedule our Sunday morning servants. The total? One hundred and seventy-four saints of God. And that’s just Sunday mornings. Many of you serve in other or additional ways, like small group leaders and coaches, Vestry members, youth ministry, Church Under the Bridge, Families Count, Faith and Art/Work/Culture, and the list goes on.

Thank you.

I want to express how grateful we are to all of you who show up in the rain to love people at Church Under the Bridge, who pour yourself into our younger disciples, who are part of the symphony of service on Sunday mornings for the glory of God and the welcoming of the outsider, who wedge your service into the late night or early morning gaps of your busy life, who sacrifice, serve, and intercede for God’s mission to be fulfilled through our parish.

Thank you.

One of my missionary heroes from the early 20th century, Amy Carmichael, writes “you can always give without loving, but you can never love without giving.”
