Chock Full

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes, Frontpage News

Dear Christ Church,

This week’s e-news is chock-full of important information. Please read to the end, and stay tuned for an exciting announcement tomorrow!

Part of the Family, this Sunday: I hope you can join us for two moments of family life together this Sunday; first, our Annual Parish Mtg. takes place between services, 10:05 to 10:50am.  Come early or stay late, depending on which service you attend, and look back/forward with us on the state of our parish, finances, property and mission. And then, from 1-4pm this Sunday, please join us for our Membership Class. This is an exploratory opportunity for you if you are not yet a member of Christ Church. I would love to see you there. Just complete this form to let us know you’re coming!

Monday School—“Spiritual Formation”: In this engaging class (starting this Monday!) we will talk about “how do people grow, what are the dynamics at work that lead us to maturity in Christ, that lead us to Christlikeness?”  Christine Warner will lead this class in what it means to be human, a theology of suffering, the stages and season of spiritual growth, and what tools and resources are available for a lifetime of seeking Christ with hunger and thirst. What does it mean to grow in knowledge of God and knowledge of self? And what about spiritual disciplines, and spiritual temperaments? Register here! And see details below.

What about the refugee question? Millennia ago God called the people of Israel to show hospitality to the stranger, to non-Israelites, and the Church has long been at the forefront of refugee resettlement in our country. This is now, however, a controversial part of the national conversation, pitting compassion and security against each other. Please read what our bishop and archbishop each recently wrote the church on this topic, calling us to prayer and service. And here is an outstanding practical resource from Christianity Today on how the church can help, right here and now.
