Today’s CliffNotes is a guest post by Sarah Smith, Pastoral Assistant at Christ Church.
Dear Christ Church,
Just as I was in disbelief that summer had come, so I stand in disbelief that August is here. I’m greeted at stores with pencils ready to be sharpened, locker decorations ready to be put up, and dorm furniture ready to be assembled. A beginning is at hand.
At Christ Church we long to see our children and youth formed by our loving God, living as members of His Church. We believe they already participate in and enrich the life of our parish. Kids’ Quest, Faith Explorers, and Youth Leaders alike will tell you that the Lord is in and amongst these “little ones,” some of who are already taller than me.
If you (or your children) have not yet been able to participate in these special places of formation and encounter, I invite you consider the following “beginnings” at hand and pray as we close in on the start of another academic year.
Kid’s Quest (K-3rd grade)
Kid’s Quest returns this Sunday! Children from Kindergarten through 3rd grade get to participate in The Gospel Project, a thoughtful curriculum that invites engagement through story and play. Our children will move through the Bible over three years, with each week pointing toward the overarching redemption story. Bekah would love to hear from you if you want to be involved in this fun, impactful part of the life of our church.”]
Faith Explorers (4th-6th grade)
Our upper elementary students will start meeting again September 11 in both services. Volunteers build community with students through Scripture, storytelling, prayer, art, games, and service. The class explores the sacraments over three years, beginning this year with Baptism and a survey of covenant and roles in the family of God. We still need teachers for this class, so get in touch with Bekah to learn more.
Youth Group (7th-12th grade)
Christ Church Youth Group will meet weekly starting September 11 (1:30PM) at 112 Medina Street. We long for our youth to be a community with hearts captured by Jesus, growing in the grit of their holy affections. Let me know if you would like to consider serving with our youth, or to be added to our youth parent email list for upcoming events.
Grace and peace,
