Murphy Farewell

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

Dear Christ Church,

Brian and Tamara Murphy, and their kids (Andrew, Alex, Kendra, and Natalie) joined our community almost five years ago, as Brian accepted the call to lead Christ Church’s operations. During those years a pastoral call and gifting hasbeen affirmed, and if you were with us last Sunday you witnessed the Bishop laying hands on Brian to make him a priest. We now celebrate God’s call into a new season of pastoral leadership as the Murphy’s move to Connecticut, where Brian will serve as Rector of Church of the Apostles.

I am deeply grateful for the skillful and wholehearted service Brian has given to Christ Church. He has not only helped mature our operations, but also loved us well, owned and appropriated our vision and values, given leadership to our youth ministry, and brought Living Waters to Christ Church. We will miss him for all these things, to be sure, but also for his personal care and loving relationship among us.

This Saturday evening we will have a gathering at the Simpkins’ house to say goodbye. Please drop by for whatever part of the evening you are able, and bring a card expressing your gratitude and blessing (details below).

It is our privilege to send the Murphy’s out to love and serve the church and the world in this new season of God’s call. Let’s send them out with prayer. This Sunday Brian will share some reflections in each service, and here he gives us some specific prayer requests for their transition.

Thank you Brian and Tamara and Andrew and Alex and Kendra and Natalie!
