Dear Christ Church,
“All sorts of people are fond of repeating the Christian statement that ‘God is love.’ But they seem not to notice that the words ‘God is love’ have no real meaning unless God contains at least two persons. Love is something that one person has for another person. If God was a single person, then before the world was made, He was not love.” -C.S. Lewis
At the center of the universe, before all time and in all places, is a relationship of self-emptying love. This Sunday we celebrate Trinity Sunday, the holy mystery of the three-in-one and one-in-three, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Parish Meeting this Sunday at 10am. Please arrive by 10am, or stay after the 9am service, in order to hear some updates on our parish life and property. Guided by our design values of Blessing, Beauty, Utility, and Welcome we have been working with architects and contractors, in a back and forth process, to bring the design dreams and design budget together. Though we won’t have a final design to present Sunday we are close, and will update on progress since our last meeting and let you know what to expect in the next few months as we enter a new phase of the process. I will also speak to the bigger picture of our parish life and vision, looking back and forward.
These are exciting times, a season of fermentation and aging of new wine, for new wineskins.
PS Take note of the Murphy ordination and goodby as we send them off with love and deep gratitude for their wholehearted and excellent service among us.
