Staffing Updates

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

Dear Christ Church,

It’s time for a staffing update, which includes some exciting news. At every stage of our life together, God has provided outstanding staff to help lead the mission of Christ Church. He has brought people like Fr. Peter Coelho and Brian Murphy for a season of their own vocational and leadership development, while they’ve invested in and loved us so well, before sending them out with Christ Church “DNA” to advance God’s mission in other parts of our city and nation.

We are still searching for our next Associate Rector. We have been through a very active interview process with candidates since December, but have not yet discerned the Spirit’s “yes” with a candidate. While we are eager to fill the position, it is more important to wait for a full and prayerful confidence. We are moving forward with the process, still seeking the right fit for our next Associate Rector.

In the meantime, we are moving the hire of Brian Murphy’s replacement to the front burner. This staff position, our Director of Operations, is essential to the day-to-day functioning of our life together. Brian has been an outstanding member of our church and staff, led with humility and competence, and will be missed greatly on our staff and in our community. Mark your calendar to celebrate his ordination May 29th, and to be present June 5th for the Murphy family’s last Sunday with us.

I mentioned that we have some exciting staffing news. I am thrilled to tell you that Sarah Smith, our Pastoral Intern for the past two years, will be retained part-time on staff as Pastoral Assistant now that her internship is complete. Sarah has done a phenomenal job serving our youth and young adults, as well as assisting in the pastoral care of our parish. She will continue to bring fresh vision and energy to these particular groups, and add pastoral strength to our staff and parish.

I am also thrilled to announce that Drew Smith will be joining our staff on June 1st as a part-time Pastoral Assistant. With a gift for leadership development while serving as Missions Coordinator for InterVarsity for a number of years, Drew joins our staff team with an extensive background in mission and cross-cultural service. Drew will spearhead local mission efforts, including our Medina St. neighborhood; implement his experience of leadership development; and build missional and formational pathways within our parish. Please extend to both Drew and Sarah a big Christ Church welcome!

Let’s continue to boldly and closely press together as a parish to uphold in prayer Brian and his family, the filling of the open staff vacancies, and Drew and Sarah as they join our staff team. These are exciting times at Christ Church!

Keeping our eyes on Jesus together,
