The Ebbs and Flows of Summer

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

This week’s CliffNotes is a guest post by Executive Pastor Brian Murphy.

Dear Christ Church,

It’s hard to believe that it has been three months since we moved the Christ Church offices into our new East Austin home at 112 Medina St. and launched a 5 p.m. service here. We have enjoyed getting to know our new neighbors, the ebb and flow of our new community, and our new facilities. If you find yourself in East Austin, please drop by and say hello. We would be happy to show you around the place and maybe even share a cup of coffee at one of the many eateries in our new neighborhood.

In recent months, many of us have also been praying for Church of the Cross, the new Northeast Austin church plant. After several weeks of prayer and discernment, about 50 people have decided to become part of the plant team, which meets our goal. With the team mostly set, they can now turn their attention and energy to reaching the people in Northeast Austin with the Gospel. We will have many opportunities in the next several months to pray for the team, and to laugh and cry together. Father Cliff will have more to say about this transition in the weeks to come.

Among these changes, we have cleared the church calendar as much as possible for the month of July in order to provide some space for rest and renewal. The staff is busy planning a fun, meaningful, and Gospel-rich fall schedule including the August Kick-off party, Parish retreat, new small groups, kids activities, and…wait for it…Advent and Christmas Eve services. Many of these events will be held at the Medina Street property. Keep a lookout for announcements about all of this activity in the coming weeks.
