Dear Christ Church,
New churches are the best way to reach new residents, new generations and new people groups. Austin is growing dramatically in each of those three categories, which is why we are planting a church in Northeast Austin at the end of this year. Are you interested in finding out more about this church plant? Do you think God might be leading you to be part of establishing a new worshipping and missional parish to reach people in another part of Austin? Come hear more about this vision from Fr. Peter at our church plant information meeting this Sunday at 3:30pm at the Medina St. property.
As you are well aware, many people from Central Texas to the Gulf Coast are suffering in the aftermath of the worst floods in recent memory. The Austin Disaster and Relief Network is doing outstanding work as the hands and feet of Jesus serving the victims. Please consider a financial gift to ADRN, and/or contacting our church’s ADRN liaison, Sid Newcomb, for ways that you can practically help.
Two prayers for those affected by the floods:
Almighty God, merciful Father, Your thoughts are not our thoughts, and Your ways are not our ways. Keep all who have been afflicted by this calamity from despair and do not let our faith fail us, but sustain and comfort us. Direct all efforts to attend the injured, console the bereaved, and protect the helpless. Deliver any who are still in danger, and bring hope and healing that all may find relief and restoration. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
For rescue workers:
Merciful Father, we commend to Your keeping all who work to bring rescue and relief especially all first responders, police, paramedics, volunteers, all who are helping out. Give them courage in danger, skill in difficulty, and compassion in service. Sustain them with bodily strength and calmness of mind that they may perform their work to the well-being of those in need so that lives may be saved and communities restored; Through Jesus Christ, Your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
Under His Mercy,
