We have two exciting developments on our staff team. I am very pleased to announce that Bryan Brown will move from part-time to full-time on our staff. For the past several years Bryan’s “day job” has been as an executive leader in the marketplace, for Media General, where until April he serves as Senior Vice President for Operations. His bivocational life of recent years reflects an integrated love for God’s high calling upon our work in both the church and the world. He will continue as our Pastor of Worship, while expanding his beautiful service in that role and bringing outstanding skills to lead all Christ Church communications, provide support in our operations as we straddle two facilities for a while, help launch our third service, and begin working on some strategic initiatives in the arena of faith, vocation and culture.
Secondly, after many months of searching for a Director of Children’s Ministries, we have found our person. Previously, this role was divided between two part-time jobs filled by Michele Gavin as Director and Lynn McClellan as weekday Coordinator; we are very grateful for their love and service to our children! Since Michele’s move to Houston, we have combined these into one full-time job.
I am very glad to announce that we have hired Bekah Powell for the position. Bekah is a native Texan, a Baylor Bear, a woman of prayerful devotion to Jesus and a lover of children, which has found expression both as a schoolteacher and, most recently, in Uganda where she worked for 1.5 years at an orphanage. I have enjoyed hearing her story, particularly the shaping influences and communities on her spiritual life and the sense that she “belongs” at Christ Church. I know you will enjoy getting to know her as well. Please join me in giving Bekah a big Christ Church welcome this Sunday!
Happy Spring Break!
