A Time for Togetherness

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

This week’s CliffNotes is a guest post by Brian Murphy, Executive Pastor.

Dear Christ Church,

It’s summer in Austin and that means several events and opportunities coming up at Christ Church that allow us to meet new friends, share stories and minister to one another past the few minutes that we spend together on Sunday mornings.

The Newcomers Dinner is a time when those who are new to Christ Church have a chance to share a part of their story with other newcomers as well as hear the story of Christ Church from one of our pastoral staff. The next Newcomers Dinner is scheduled for June 14 (see details below). It is not too late to be a part of this special night. If you have never been to a Newcomers Dinner, please consider attending. Besides the good food and fun time in the home of one our families, this is an important event for those who are considering joining the Christ Church family.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner is a unique opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of Christ Church families who live in neighborhoods around Austin. Sign up here to either host or attend a dinner party for six to eight people. The surprise is that only the host family knows the identity of the other families that will attend. We will send out the address of your destination; bring a dish to pass, and then everyone arrives to the house and the fun begins.

The Guatemala Mission Team will depart this Saturday for Potter’s House to work among the Treasures that live in the Guatemala City dump. There will be prayer cards for each of the team members located on the round table in the main entrance of the church. Take one, two or three of these cards and “go” with the team by spending some time each day in prayer.

This weekend is a special time on the Church calendar. Pentecost Sunday is the day when we focus our attention on the sending of the Holy Spirit and the beginning of the Church. The scripture passages will be read in several international languages. It is appropriate to wear red, as that is the color of the day.

We look forward to sharing these special opportunities with you. See you there!

Blessings,
Brian
