Please, please, please watch the videolinked below before Sunday. It’s beautiful.
“Stewardship is the act of organizing your life so that God can spend you.” These words by Lynn Miller put financial generosity in the context of discipleship, of making ourselves available to God in every arena of life. By placing our whole selves into God’s merciful hands, we get to participate in His restoration of the world. On Sunday, February 2nd we will celebrate the joy of giving as an act of gospel gratitude when we make our pledges for the year. Pledge cards will be available the next two Sundays, or you can complete one here.
This Sunday the Rev. Skip Ryan–pastor, professor and founder of Redeemer Seminary–will be our guest in worship. Skip was Senior Pastor of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas for many years before their lives were turned inside out as they went through a time of pain and trial. Watch his candid story of rescue before hearing him speak this Sunday morning. His sermon topic Sunday will be “Generous Epiphany,” not so much his personal story of rescue, but you will be drawn to Jesus by watching this video, and appreciate knowing more about Skip and Barbara Ryan when they join us this Sunday.
Finally, it’s not too late to jump in for our next Membership Class, this Sunday 1pm to 4pm. Just shoot us an emailto let us know you are coming.
PS Several weeks ago I mentioned an excellent article in Christianity Today by and about a couple of Christ Churchers, Andrea Dilley writing about the groundbreaking work of Dr. Bob Woodberry. The link led to “subscribers only” access. It is now publicly available here.
