Today’s CliffNotes is a guest post by Meghan Scully, Senior Warden of the Vestry
Dear Christ Church,
It is with great pleasure that I get to announce our new Vestry candidates for 2014: Jennifer Harger and David McLaughlin, both of whom have been servant-leaders in our community for several years, from small group leadership to Altar Guild to Living Waters and other whatever-it-takes forms of quiet service. On Sunday,January 5th, we will havethe opportunity to vote on the Vestry’s recommendation of Jennifer and David to serve a three-year term.
In this transition, the Vestry, Fr. Warner and I also want to express our deep gratitude to those who have completed their terms, Jack McCool and Len Skiles (Len’s role as treasurer, which is not a Vestry position, has been extended one more year, however). Len and Jack have seen Christ Church through significant growthand change with godly counsel and the right skills “for such a time as this.” Thank you, Len and Jack!
While I have you, let me remind you to consider whom you might invite to attend our Christmas Eve services at 6pm and 8pm. See below for details. And lastly, don’t forget that Sunday, December 29th, we will only have ONE service at 10am: our traditional Lessons & Carols service.
As we prepare for the coming week that holds the last Sunday of Advent, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, “let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.” (Psalm 95:1-3)
It is a delight to worship our precious Lord who came, and who will come again, with you all. I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
