This week’s edition of CliffNotes is guest-authored by Michele Gavin, Director of Children’s Ministry.
Dear Christ Church,
Every Sunday, those of us who help in Children’s Ministry are blessed with the opportunity to serve God’s kids and teach them about Him. The one thing I have learned is that this experience is extraordinary. It’s exciting, insightful, prayerful and playful … and filled with the Holy Spirit! I feel truly blessed to watch the kids learn and begin to gain a better understanding of how the biblical truths apply to their lives. To that end I am very eager to share with you about the new ways we will be ministering to the children of Christ Church.
In the fall we will be launching a new curriculum with our children (through grade 4) that I hope will be incredibly impactful. It is entitled The Gospel Project and is a three-year chronological study through the Bible that uniquely connects each Bible story to the Gospel of Christ. The Gospel Project helps kids to see that the Gospel is not just the first four books of the New Testament, but the entire Bible pointing to God’s redemptive plan through Christ Jesus.
I am also super-excited about another way we are aligning with the core objectives of Christ Church through global missions. As we wrap up our mission month this Sunday, I will be announcing to the children that Kid’s Quest and Faith Explorer groups will be sponsoring a child at the Potter’s House with the collections we take up each week in class.
The goal is to make global missions more tangible for our children through the development of a relationship with our sponsor child, Nataly. In fact, the relationship has already begun to take root. During our church’s recent mission trip, several members of our congregation including some of our KQ kids were able to meet with Nataly and her family (pictured here).
After this week, we will be taking a brief summer break, and will reconvene August 25. Thank you for the opportunity to serve your family and if you are interested in serving our children and experiencing some extraordinary Sundays, please email me.
In Christ’s service to our children,
