Engage. Retreat.

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

Last week I suggested that “disengagement” might be the best contemporary synonym for sloth, a “why bother” attitude. The gospel, however, sets us free to risk engagement, passionate engagement in life, love and labor. These incredible images of dancers embody the word “engagement,” a physical demonstration of grace crashing in on everyday life. Also, this poem by Marge Piercy about work, one of my recent favorites, came to mind as I’ve been thinking about sloth; when I read it everything in me says, “yes.”

I can’t wait to be with y’all at the retreat! If your aren’t registered, please join us for a special Sunday morning of worship, ministry time and some baptisms, 10am at Highland Lakes Camp & Conference Center.

The ministry time will be an opportunity to receive prayer for healing, both inner and physical, to respond to how the Lord might be stirring you through our Seven Deadly Sins series, Fr. David Roseberry’s Saturday teachings on the Lord’s Supper or to bring your heavy burdens to Jesus in the company of trusted others. We are asking the Lord to meet us in grace and power Sunday morning. Then we will conclude with the celebration of some baptisms down at the lake!

Peace,
Cliff
