I am pleased to announce a new mission partnership in our effort to love this great city. We are committing to a new venture with Mission Possible, to serve among the least and the lowly of Austin. Read to the end to learn about the exact nature of our involvement and an information meeting this Sunday, but first check out this overview from the Mission Possible website:
“If you have lived in Austin for long you have probably seen a number of people living on the street. Austin is home to over 6000 homeless people and this is a growing number . . . There are many opinions about the homeless, but most people have had very little or no personal interaction with people living on the street. As believers, we know that it is our responsibility to show the love of Christ to all people, no matter who they are or what their background is. [The] “Church Under the Bridge” is a combined effort of churches from all over the Austin area serving the homeless. Volunteers at CUB tangibly demonstrate the love of God to the people living on our streets through the provision of hot meals, clothing, blankets and sleeping bags. CUB now meets every Sunday morning at 7th Street and IH-35 across from the police station. The service starts at 10 a.m.”
We have committed for one year to be one of the sponsoring churches, which means that we provide substantial support on the 1st Sunday of every month, both at a practical level and at the level of relational and prayer ministry. Come join us for an information meeting this Sunday (details below), and consider the call to be part of the CUB Ministry Team.
