Advent Quiet, Christmas Celebration

CliffNotes

Dear Christ Church,

Yesterday in staff meeting we began by quieting ourselves and listening to God, with the help of a devotional resource I want you to know about, developed by Jesuits in the U.K.: www.pray-as-you-go.org. Every day they combine a reading from scripture, sacred music and some questions for reflection into a 10-15 minute devotional. You can listen to it at your computer or download it a week at a time onto your mobile device. Can you take 10-15 minutes/day during the craziness of the next few days to be still and center your affections and attention on Christ? Try it out!

You won’t want to miss our Christmas Eve Services, a celebration of the Feast of the Incarnation, as well as a great opportunity to invite someone who has no church home! At the 6pm service we will have a special program involving Christ Church children in worship. And then at 8pm we will have a traditional Christmas Eve service, with guest musicians Will Taylor and Strings Attached. Both are candlelight services.

Sunday, January 1, we will continue our week-after-Christmas tradition of worshipping in a “Lessons and Carols” service. This is a fun and instructive service of alternating Christmas carols with scripture readings that tell the story of God’s promises and coming . . . another great opportunity to bring a friend!

Lastly, if you have questions or comments about our options for Anglican affiliation, please feel free to contact me and/or the vestry (christchurchvestry@googlegroup.com). Vestry members are Scott Friesen (Senior Warden), Ann Cushman, Lisa Neely, Len Skiles, and Jack McCool. We are staying informed and actively discussing and praying for the good of God’s church and mission. I’m very encouraged and full of anticipation about what God has for Christ Church in 2012!

Waiting and Watching,
Cliff

PS Don’t forget, Christ Church will hold no worship services this Sunday, Dec. 26.
