Changes in Children’s Ministry

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

In the first month of my arrival as the new Rector in 2006, I was told that the children’s ministry had planned an interactive fair in the fellowship hall, based on the Lord’s Prayer. The quality of transformational pedagogy amazed me! I knew then that the discipleship of our children was in stellar volunteer hands. Three years later and five times bigger, Christ Church had reached the point of needing to staff our ministry to children. I didn’t have to look long or far for the right person; she was in our parish already, if only she would consider, and the Lord was prompting, a vocational redirection from Nursing to Children’s Ministry. In the summer of 2009 Michele Riffee accepted the position. She has since done an outstanding job!

It is not without some sadness, therefore, that I tell you that Michele has decided to step down from her role on staff to focus more on family and home for the next season of Riffee life. Michele has been a delight to have on staff, a great team member, a passionate advocate for making disciples of children, disciples who right now are true worshippers, mission-minded, Jesus-centered and scripture-saturated. There’s some sadness, yes, but also much excitement for Michele and the Riffee family! Michele will remain on staff until February 2012, during which time we will be seeking the Lord’s provision for the years to come. Please read here to get a sense of Michele’s heart, in her own words.
