“As the Father sent me, so I send you”, Jesus said. One of our core values is “Changed Lives,” because it was the heartbeat of our Savior. We are sent ones, commissioned to be the hands, feet and voice our Jesus to a broken and lost world. Here are four current partnerships in which Christ Church is engaged. Read through these, pick a couple and join in. Give. Serve. Go.
Local Evangelism and Service
Kindness Explosion: This is a multi-church effort in the city of Austin to serve and love our great city this Oct. 28-29. Friday night we will learn how to do Servant Evangelism from Steve Sjogren; Saturday morning we will fan out across the city to show the love of God. See details below.
Homelessness and Sustainable Food Movement
Genesis Gardens: This is a very creative and integral mission where the formerly homeless, the church and sustainable food efforts meet. To learn how you and a group of friends can get involved, go here, and to register for a class on gardening and the homeless, contact Steven Hebbard. Classes begin next Thursday.
Local Disaster Relief
Fire Response: Many people are still displaced, and volunteers are still needed to assist those people affected by the wild fires in Bastrop, Texas. Christ Church has partnered with the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) to continue to help the victims of these devastating fires. If you would like volunteer to help our neighbors, contact Jack McCool or telephone at (512) 698-5835.
Ethiopian Orphans: A craft and bake sale to benefit Bring Love In, an organization dedicated to helping Ethiopian orphans, is scheduled for October 14 and 15 at the Parish Retreat. The proceeds will support the furnishing of a house for 6-8 children plus one house mother. Bring cash or coins to donate to this great cause and take away a fun treat. If you have any questions, contact Karen Friesen.
See you at the retreat!
