Frederick Buechner writes, “If you don’t have any doubts you are either kidding yourself or asleep. Doubts are the ants in the pants of faith. They keep it awake and moving.”
What do I do with the hard questions? How do I engage the profound mysteries of life? Am I a weak or immature disciple if I wrestle with some doubts? This Sunday I will be preaching on doubt and the Christian life, as we come to the story of the disciple Thomas, who initially doubted the reality of the resurrection. Though Thomas is famous for his initial doubt, he is not often known for the fact that he was the only disciple to explicit address Jesus as “God.”
Join us this Sunday, and bring a friend who might appreciate hearing about the role of questions, inquiry and searching for answers in the Christian life.
