I am very excited to announce two upcoming events that advance our commitment to be a church on mission. On the last Sunday of March we will be honored to have one of North America’s foremost missiologists, Dr. Miriam Adeney, preach in our Sunday services. She is the author, most recently, of a book that has garnered much praise among those interested in God’s global mission. Our own Dr. Taylor, himself a missionary-statesman, recently said this is one of the most refreshing books he’s read in the past twenty years. What if a bunch of us read it before she comes? Get a copy and start reading, and let me know if you do so.
Also, we are in the final planning stages for a Christ Church family-friendly mission trip to Guatemala in early-mid June. We will be serving alongside a permanent mission there, located on the rim of the city dump, where thousand of men, women and children live by scavenging through the city’s waste. They find things to eat, sell and materials to build shelter. The ministry with whom we will partner is called The Potter’s House, and has a long track record of faithful gospel ministry, combining education, health, evangelism and discipleship to rescue people they call their “treasures.” If you would like more information on this opportunity, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, and block out early June until dates are finalized.
For the sake of all nations,
