John Stott, one of my heroes of faith and ministry, once said “A gift is acceptable according to what the giver has, not according to what he has not.” There is no objective standard of generosity, in other words. It’s not about vast sums, but big hearts. Sacrificial generosity finds its source in gratitude for the grace of God.
For the past several weeks we’ve been preparing, household by household, to make our financial pledges to God and His kingdom through Christ Church. It’s here! This is the Sunday we all come with our pledges. If you haven’t already done so, the Vestry and I want to invite you to give prayerful consideration before Sunday to the financial commitment God is calling you to in 2011. You can bring the pledge card you received in the mail or use the electronic version. We have so much to be grateful for, so much grace, so many God-soaked and Christ-changed lives!
In case you missed our Annual Parish Meeting last Sunday, please welcome our new Vestry members: Jack McCool and Len Skiles (follow this link to learn more about the role of the Vestry). They join our returning Vestry–Scott Friesen, Lisa Neely and Ann Cushman–as together we face the leadership challenges and opportunities to help Christ Church be a community of changed lives, changing our world for the praise of His glory in this city.
