Telling Time

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

What time is it? There are several ways to answer this question, but you aren’t likely to hear someone reply: “the fourth week of Epiphany.” We keep time in the church according to a calendar that takes us through the life of Jesus and draws us into the story of redemption. Just as we acknowledge the concept of sacred space, so do we set apart time, with weekly Sabbaths and liturgical seasons. The church calendar is packed with profound resources to shape us spiritually.

This Sunday we have the pleasure of hosting and hearing Bobby Gross, author of Living the Christian Year, and National Director for Graduate and Faculty Ministries for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. His book is an excellent resource for every person at Christ Church, especially those who have come into our Anglican worship from a tradition that does not use liturgy or observe the Christian year. It is devotionally practical, theologically deep and will aid your experience of corporate worship.

Don’t forget, this Sunday we’ll hold our Annual Parish Meeting immediately following the 11am service. We are also approaching Celebration Sunday (Feb. 6), our day of making financial pledges for the year. In case you missed it, here is my sermon from last Sunday on the subject, and my letter to the congregation.

See you Sunday!
