Gaudete Sunday

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

This Sunday is Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means “rejoice,” a reminder in the midst of our waiting and longings that help is on the way; the King is coming. Represented by the rose colored candle, the third Sunday in Advent mixes purple, symbolizing the royalty of the coming king and our penitential response, with white, the festal (celebratory) color. We sin and suffer, but not without hope. King Jesus is coming to make all things new! This Sunday someone in our Christ Church community will light the rose candle on the Advent Wreath.

Have you thought of who you might invite to our Christmas Eve Service? The first service (6pm) will feature our children in a “pageant.” The second service (8pm) will feature an outstanding collaboration between some of our own musicians and Strings Attached, one of Austin’s finest musical ensembles. Here’s an invitation you can send them.

Have you seen the beautiful worship booklets we’ve been using during the 9am service? They have an Advent devotional in the back; you can still jump in (Week Three) to help prepare your heart for Christmas. Take one home this Sunday (available on the Welcome Table).

Waiting, hopeful and rejoicing,
Cliff
