From a Small Seed

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

Our next Membership Class is just around the corner. If you are not a member, I want to invite you to this next step of commitment. It is our deep desire that no one stand alone at Christ Church. We want to see every person at Christ Church stand in the company of Christ and his people. Christ Church expresses God’s kingdom in Austin like a tiny mustard seed that grows into a tree, ” . . . so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches” (Matthew 13:32). As this powerful piece of art by local artist Jim Janknegt suggests, the King and his kingdom reign in the heart of the city. Christ Church is one branch where birds of the air like you and your lost and broken friends can come make a nest.

Whether you are simply curious to know what Christ Church is all about or ready to take the plunge, consider attending our next Membership Class on June 12 (9am-12:30pm). It’s a great way to meet people and learn more about us; it also gives us the opportunity to get to know you. Becoming a Christ Church member can be a vital next step of Christian growth and commitment. Though attendance in the class is required for membership, it does not obligate participants to become members. Contact the church office to register.

The leadership of Christ Church seeks to love and care for its members faithfully, as well as lead and equip them for God’s service and glory. We believe that God wants to use Christ Church in the city of Austin as a people with lives transformed, changing our world, together for His glory. We rely on the members, however, to accomplish the work and ministry of the church. The call is challenging (Mark 8:34-35). The opposition is great (1 Peter 5:8). But Jesus stands with us (Matthew 28:20).

Peace,
Cliff

P.S. See you at the Parish Picnic, Monday 10am-1pm at Dick Nichols Park!
