“What starts here changes the world.” Have you heard Walter Cronkite deliver that line in promotional spots for the University of Texas? Yes, UT does have global influence, but pales in comparison to the world-changing power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. One of Christ Church’s core values is “Changed World.”
This Saturday Christ Church will be engaged in world-changing service at a park across from the Meadowbrook Housing Project in south Austin. We have teams of people preparing crafts, food, puppet shows, games, photo shoots, and a book giveaway as we begin to seek God’s guidance for work in that community. Lumen, our urban mission, has already begun to build bridges with this community through Mainspring, the neighborhood pre-school. Please pray for decent weather, for the residents to be blessed by this ministry of joy and for God to use Christ Church in his mission to change the world, one life and one neighborhood at a time.
Don’t forget! This Sunday Bishop Jones will be with us, preaching and doing confirmations. See you there!
P.S. Been a while since you’ve read our core values, if ever? Check ’em out here.
