Dear Friends at Christ Church,
It’s high-low time. Often at mealtime our family will go around the table answering the question, “What was your ‘high’ and ‘low’ for the day?” We’ll also answer it for the week at our Sabbath meal. Now is a good time to reflect on the “highs” and “lows” of the past year, as well as to look ahead. For the coming year, what are your hopes? Your longings? Your goals? What do you want to see happen spiritually, physically, relationally and vocationally? Let me encourage you to spend some time with Jesus, a journal and a good friend for guidance to live intentionally in 2010. What are His dreams for you in the next year? Trust Him to empower and embolden you to lean into those dreams.
I hope you’ll be with us this Sunday, as I will lead us in an Instructed Eucharist. I will give a running commentary on each section of our worship service, offering an explanation of the liturgy’s shape, flow and meaning. As Anglicans, we are people of story and symbol, Word and Sacrament, with rich and beautiful worship. This has been very appreciated in the past, especially by those who are not lifelong Anglicans.
I am grateful for the privilege of being your pastor in 2009.
Happy New Year!
