Letter from Bishop Jones

Rev. Cliff WarnerCliffNotes

I got this letter from Bishop Jones recently and read it to the church last week during Sunday worship. It’s a letter of welcome to our new Anglican home. We recently affiliated as a congregation of the Anglican Mission in the Americas. Bishop Jones is a mission-minded and Christ-centered man after God’s own heart. We are grateful to be connected to such a community of Anglican churches across the nation, and the Communion across the world, who live to exalt Jesus Christ and advance His kingdom!

Dear Cliff and Christ Church,

It was a great joy to see you, your family and members of your church family at the conference. We, in the mission (Anglican Mission in the Americas), are excited about joining you in the mission field of Austin, Texas.

Rooted in history and tradition the Anglican Communion has as its purpose to reach the last, lost, little and the lonely. We believe that to the degree we can see God’s vision it is because we stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us in the faith. You will become the shoulders of generations yet born.

You have made several courageous decisions in the past year. More will be needed as we move forward together. In the words of the Lord to Joshua, “be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1.9.

I look forward to visiting you again, hopefully this summer. May God bless you and your ministry.

Faithfully,

Rt. Rev. Philip Jones
